Happy New Year

This is traditionally 8 days late, but I'm going to say anyway as it's the first post of the year.

Last year was a year of many firsts for me, I did a lot of things I'd never done before, a lot of which I didn't plan or expect. And I've learnt so much from the past year.

I wanted to hit the ground running this year, armed with several ideas and a plan, and I even saw a meme mid December which said "If you haven't already set goals and started planning for 2017, you're already 14 days behind." and that spurred me on.

But I quickly realized that it was too much pressure, I was stressing out over things that hadn't even happened yet. Things I had no control over... It's OK not to have all the cards, it's OK not to have everything figured out.

Each new day is a chance for change, a chance to get it right, a chance to start working on your goals. But you've still got to play with cards you've been dealt. The best way to proceed for me was to take stock of the past year, see what worked, improve on that, ditch what didn't work and begin to make positive changes even if they are small.

And upon reflecting on the last year, I also realized that I spent far too much energy stressing out about my plan and when what needed to happen. And that didn't help in any way, as a matter of fact some of the best moment were completely unplanned.

So this year, I'm taking a slightly more relaxed approach, I can't be all relaxed because I like control way too much for that, but I can learn that if things don't work out by a deadline I've set for myself, it's OK, there just might be something better around the corner.

Here's to an amazing 2017.

Hope you all have an amazing year.
