The Price Of Patience

Patience is a virtue.
Or so the saying goes. If you are to be great or successful, you must practise patience. Especially in this day and age where we are all growing increasingly more frustrated with the world. (Sidebar - I still can't believe Donald Trump is officially America's 45th president). Everything is speeding up and we're trying desperately to keep up.
But no one ever tells you it's often at the cost of something; and sometimes it will be near and dear to your heart. Be it in business, career or relationships.
I've always considered myself patient, but the last year and a half have tested me far more than I could ever imagine. And I finally understand that patience isn't easy, it will never be easy, in fact the moment you decide to go on a journey with patience you will be tested at every mile.
Everything in life is a process, it happens in stages. For things to happen at the right time you must develop your ability to be patient and to trust in the process. Patience isn't something you choose on a whim, you have to be intentional about it. If there was one virtue that could alter the quality of your life, it might be patience. It has become the norm of our fast-paced world to expect everything to happen instantaneously and for us to become immediately aggravated when it doesn't. The result is that we feel frantic and rushed, stressed and unhappy.
So if you're waiting on something and are struggling with the ability to be patient, consider these things:
Patience is a gift.
Being patient allows you to make better decisions and to feel positive each day, which in turn keeps you stress free and helps you live longer.
Patience gives you self control and the ability to stop and be more present.
Don't be naive. It may cost you something. Be it time, effort, pride, friendships or even relationships.
Your lack of patience may affect others and most times negatively.
It's not easy, but know that it will be worth it.
